Griezmann: I did not join Barcelona for the Champions League

Frenchman Antoine Griezmann, Barcelona star, revealed the reason for his decision to leave Atletico Madrid, and to play in the Blaugrana shirt during the last summer transfers.

Griezmann moved to Barcelona last July, after the Catalan club paid the penalty clause of his contract, which amounted to 120 million euros.

"I did not leave Madrid Atlético to win the Champions League or get more titles," Griezmann told UEFA's website.

He added: "I joined Barcelona to learn a new style of play, a new philosophy, and growth on a personal level."

The Barcelona striker stressed that he should be most enjoying playing alongside the live legend, Lionel Messi, who is not frequently repeated in football fields.

"We are talking about a player who we may not see again or we may see like him in 40 years. We have to enjoy it, whether we are teammates, fans in the stands or coaches, because what he does with the ball is unbelievable and it's surprising to see him playing and playing next to him," Griezmann said. ".

Griezmann, 28, touched on his childhood and how he struggled at first, "Certainly my small size was a problem for me. I've always been overly short and had to wait."

"Of course, it was a very difficult period, but in the end I forgot it with my friends and colleagues, and I was just trying to think of doing what I love, which is playing football."

Griezmann has played 23 Barcelona shirts in all competitions so far, scoring 8 goals and making 4 others for his teammates.
